The Kentucky Department of Vehicle Enforcement (KVE) is a statewide law enforcement agency for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The department, which is a part of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, is responsible for promoting vehicle safety and enforcing both commercial and passenger vehicle laws. The department employs both sworn officers and commercial vehicle inspectors.

Although KVE officers primarily enforce commercial vehicle laws, their sworn officers are considered peace officers of the Commonwealth and have full power to issue citations and make arrests. In this capacity, KVE officers will often provide speed enforcement and will enforce other traffic laws, acting as a de facto highway patrol. In this case, that'll work either on their own authority or hand in hand with the state's primary law enforcement agency, the Kentucky State Police.
